MUMBAI: Bombay HC has sought within three weeks statistics related to razing of illegal structures by Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation in last two years.

Advocate Ajay Jaiswal, for a petitioner, informed Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Makarand Karnik that VMMC is not following a May 2018 GR that directed all civic bodies to oppose pleas seeking stay on demolition and that caveats are lodged.

The HC directed VVMC to submit affidavit on number of demolition orders passed, caveats lodged, razing orders that have been implemented, and cases where orders could not be given effect due to injunction by civil courts in last 2 years.
